Vision Statement

Together we inspire one another to love learn respect and forgive, rooted and built up in Christ, so that every member of our school community can develop and flourish; united in mutual respect with a sense of belonging.

Intent of the teaching and learning of Religious Education

We are committed to the Catholic faith, recognising and valuing every individual as special and unique in the image and likeliness of God.

Religious Education at St Joseph’s promotes awe, wonder, reverence and spirituality within each child and it is at the core of the curriculum for our school.

Our religious Education curriculum leads our children to aspire not to have more, but to be more; children are taught about God’s love; they learn about their Christian responsibilities; children are provided with experiences of church, Catholic and Christian traditions, as well as being taught to be respectful and understanding of people and traditions from other faith backgrounds.

Through Religious Education our children learn about their unique place within the home, school and parish community.

Religious Education Curriculum

The ‘Come and See’ programme of study forms the basis of our scheme of work and teaching. It is developed through three themes; the Church, the Sacraments and Christian Living. Each theme occurs once in every term and gradually builds on the understandings of the previous theme. Each theme is explored through different topics across the year groups.
